Each year, Dragon Con supports raising money for charity, and the YA Lit Track holds a House Cup Competition in order to make the money-raising fun and Harry Potter themed. In 2014, DragonCon’s official charity was the Atlanta Community Food Bank. 100% of the House Cup proceeds went toward the ACFB. We raised $1705.60 with Ravenclaw winning the Cup for the third year in a row!
The 2015 official DragonCon charity is the Lymphoma Research Foundation (Georgia Market), and DragonCon will match dollar for dollar, up to $50,000 this year. The YA Lit Track can’t wait to do it’s small part to pitch in, and hope our attendees will enjoy participating as much as we do.
How does it work? At all of our panels, we’ll be collecting money at the back of the room. You can donate your money to the House of your choice/heart–Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or Slytherin. Ravenclaw has taken the cup two years in a row–who will win this year? Vote with your dollars, and support your House and charity at the same time!
We’re looking forward to find out which charity DragonCon will be supporting in 2016–we will be there, encouraging our wonderful attendees to show their House Pride for a cause!
