The YA Literature Track has a number of traditions that make our track unique and fun!
Giveaways at every panel!
That’s right: everyone that attends a YA Lit Track panel* will be entered in a raffle to win free prizes–usually books! We always have an awesome selection of our favorite YA & MG titles, ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies), author swag, and sometimes even graphic novels. All you have to do is show up.
*except for large room panels, such as celebrity guest Q&As
House Cup Competition
Starting in 2012, the YA Lit Track started it’s very own House Cup Competition, all in support of Dragon Con’s official charity. We do it Harry Potter style–at the close of each panel we invite attendees to donate to their House. At the Yule Ball we’ll announce the House with the most money. Ravenclaw has taken it three years in a row, but will 2015 be the year of a great Gryffindor, Slytherin or Hufflepuff upset?
This year’s charity is the Lymphoma Research Foundation. 100% of the House Cup proceeds will be going to the LRF.
“Are You A Deatheater?”
This interactive game–inspired by Assassin–happens Saturday night around midnight. Join us for a who-dun-it, Potter-style. This is one of our most popular events and fills up quickly, so come early!
Calling all cosplayers! Do you have an awesome outfit inspired by a YA book? Come to our costume contest judging Sunday evening before the Yule Ball. We award all sorts of prizes to all sorts of costumes. Winners are announced at the Yule Ball Sunday night.
The Yule Ball
Every year we close out Dragon Con with a Sunday evening Yule Ball! Come decked out in your finest–or come in jeans (we’re cool cats like that)–and party with your fellow YA Lit nerds. The Yule Ball starts at 8 p.m. Sunday night and is held in our BRAND SPANKIN’ NEW location of The Imperial Ballroom in the Marriott. There will be a cash bar.
Want to request a song at the Yule Ball? Fill out our request form! Make sure you request your song before August 15, 2015. We won’t be taking any requests at the Yule Ball.
